Young Republicans Advisory Council

The Nevada Young Republicans Advisory Council is made of experienced leaders, elected officials, and political professionals who provide guidance, perspective, and insight to strengthen the organization. These individuals serve as advisors, offering their time and expertise to help ensure the continued growth, effectiveness, and success of the Nevada Young Republicans across the state.

Members of the Advisory Council support the mission of developing the next generation of conservative leaders, expanding grassroots engagement, and building a stronger Republican presence in every region of Nevada.

Advisory Council members serve in an advisory capacity only. An endorsement issued by the Nevada Young Republicans reflects the decision of the organization itself and does not constitute an endorsement from any individual member of the Advisory Council.
Michael McDonald, Chairman, Nevada Republican Party
Michael McDonald is the longest-serving Republican state party chairman in American history, having led the Nevada Republican Party since 2012. A former officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, he earned recognition for heroism in the line of duty before entering public service. McDonald later served on the Las Vegas City Council, including as Mayor Pro-Tem, and chaired the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Over more than a decade as chairman, he has provided steady leadership through multiple election cycles, maintaining party unity and building a durable statewide organization.
Nathan Taylor, Former Chairman, Nevada Young Republicans
Nathan Taylor is a former Chairman of the Nevada Young Republicans and a seasoned political strategist with decades of experience in campaigns, government, and grassroots organizing. He has worked on more than 100 political campaigns nationwide, served as Region VI Vice Chair for the Young Republican National Federation, and played roles in presidential operations, including the advance team and 2004 inauguration of President George W. Bush. Taylor is the founder and CEO of Taylor Consulting Group, where he advises small businesses on regulatory navigation, including zoning, liquor and gaming licensing, and government relations. His background also includes service as a Clark County licensing agent and a City of Las Vegas management analyst, along with ongoing involvement in civic boards and commissions. His leadership helped shape the Nevada Young Republicans into a structured, politically relevant organization.
Leo Blundo, Chairman, Nye County Republican Party
Leo Blundo serves as Chairman of the Nye County Republican Party and is a well-known Nye County restaurateur and small business owner. He operates Carmelo’s Italian Restaurant and Dad’s American Diner, two established local institutions that reflect his deep ties to the community. Blundo brings a practical, business-driven approach to party leadership, emphasizing grassroots engagement, turnout, and strong local organization. Under his leadership, Nye County continues to serve as a reliable base of Republican strength in Nevada.
Dr. Scott Gavorsky, Chairman, Elko County Republican Party
Dr. Scott Gavorsky serves as Chairman of the Elko County Republican Party and is the Elko County Commissioner-Elect for District 2, having run unopposed in 2026. A recognized leader in northeastern Nevada, he combines party leadership with direct involvement in public policy and local governance. Gavorsky has played a key role in maintaining a highly organized and engaged Republican presence in Elko County, reinforcing its position as a cornerstone of rural conservative strength in the state.
Jill Douglass, Chairwoman, Clark County Republican Party
Jill Douglass serves as Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party, leading Republican efforts in Nevada’s largest and most competitive county. Elected in 2025, she brought decades of experience in financial services leadership and grassroots organizing to the role. Douglass previously served as president of the Battle Born Republican Women of Southern Nevada and currently works as an Agency Vice President with COUNTRY Financial, overseeing regional operations. As chair, she has focused on strengthening voter contact operations, energizing volunteers, and building the infrastructure needed to compete and win in Clark County.
